11/28: Sarah Rupp, Sophie Seita, Rodrigo Toscano


Sarah Rupp is the author of NONE OF MY BOYFRIENDS ARE RIVERBANK CORPSES, forthcoming from Mess Editions. She co-curated CURDS + WHEY, an anti-eviction reading series in Oakland. She lives in Richmond, Virginia and is an undergrad at VCU.

Sophie Seita works with poetry on the page, in performance and in video. Her books include 12 Steps (2012), Fantasias in Counting (2014), and i mean i dislike that fate that i was made to where (a chapbook-translation of the German poet Uljana Wolf, forthcoming 2015). Some videos have been exhibited and screened in the UK, US, and Germany. She is currently working on a long lyric poem called Meat, a conceptual closet drama called Don Carlos, or Royal Jelly, and has just finished a feminist inter-genre artist book with Anna Moser, titled Aesthetic Failings, or A Dialogue.

Rodrigo Toscano’s newest book of poetry is Deck of Deeds (Counterpath Press 2012). His previous collection, Collapsible Poetics Theater, was a 2007 National Poetry Series Selection. Forthcoming from Fence Books in 2016 is Explosion Rocks Springfield. He was the recipient of a New York State Fellowship in Poetry. His poetry has appeared in numerous anthologies, including Against Expression, Diasporic Avant Gardes, Angels of the Americlypse, and Best American Poetry. His poetics plays have been performed at the Disney Redcat Theater and Ontological-Hysteric Poet’s Theater Festival. His radio pieces have aired on WPIX FM, KAOS Public Radio, WNYU, and PS.1 Radio. His poetry has been translated into French, Dutch, Italian, German, Portuguese, Norwegian and Catalan. Toscano works for the Labor Institute in conjunction the United Steelworkers and the National Institute for Environmental Health Science. He works out of a laptop, tethered to a Droid, residing in airports, occupying poetics in mid-flight.
